Care by pet, because a rabbit is not a small dog

What a pet needs changes with the species and with the stage it is at. These six pages set out the schedule, the problems we see most, and which hospitals see which animals.

Questions we get asked

Do you see exotic pets?

Rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, birds and reptiles are seen at Joondalup and Midland, where the two vets who hold that caseload consult.

My pet is a breed with known problems. Should I do anything differently?

Often, yes. Tell us the breed when you book the first visit and we will set the check schedule around what that breed is prone to.

Can I bring a pet that is not a dog, cat, rabbit or bird?

Call us first. We see ferrets and guinea pigs routinely, and there are species we would rather refer than see badly.
